Whole Hog Provisions was founded under Round River Provisions to build a pork supply chain that works for the farmer and the eater at the same time.
We buy hogs by the head, not on the commodity market, so our farmers know what they’ll be paid before the pigs are born. They raise them in deep-bedded, open-air hoop barns and finish them on regional rye. Every farmer in the network shares in the profit on the pork we sell. The result is a better pig, raised on a farm that can plan its year.
Rye is a real crop on our farms — planted, harvested, and sold, not just turned under. It goes into the rotation alongside corn and soy, which breaks up the cycle of planting the same thing in the same ground year after year. Because rye grows through the cold months, the fields have living roots in them when they’d otherwise sit bare. Those roots hold the soil in place, keep nutrients from washing into local streams, and build organic matter over time.
Our hogs live in open-air hoop barns on deep bedding. The manure composts in the pack and goes back onto those same fields, so the fertility stays on the farm that produced it.
Then we finish the hogs on that same rye. It isn’t an additive or a marketing ingredient — it’s the grain growing in the rotation, and it produces a firmer, whiter fat cap in the finished pork. One decision, two results: better ground, better pork.

We sell all of it.
We build co-ownership, not contract labor. A guaranteed base fee covers barn overhead and daily labor, while batch profit-sharing allows family farms to earn real upside tied to animal health, feed efficiency, and carcass yield.
100% Prop 12 certified and crate-free from Day 1. Hogs are finished in open hoop structures allocated at 14 sq ft per pig, deep-bedded on cornstalks, and nourished on a rye-enhanced diet that promotes social calm and superior fat quality.
Integrating small-grain rye into feed rations supports multi-crop rotations that keep living roots in the ground year-round to build soil health. Manure is managed as a solid bedded pack and applied back to fields under a nutrient management plan—closing the farm’s fertilizer loop while protecting local air and watersheds.
